mmm sugar cookies! i spent the past few hours making a ton of these for a family party tonight. i’ve tried a bunch of different frosting colors for sugar cookies in the past- i usually go for the light colors (baby blue, light pink, etc.)- and i’m loving the yellow! definitely my favorite yet. plus, i just love the way that the pearlescent sugar crystals go with it. they’re adorable!
help someone take them away before i eat them all.

Neighbor dinner! The second-ever amongst four couples in our ‘hood. The hosts, new homeowners like the Missus and me, made three types of fancy-pizzas: butternut squash, basil, and kalamata olives; duck with hoisin sauce, scallions, and red pepper; and broccoli, thin-sliced “beet-a-ronis,” red pepper hummus and pesto. The first photo is the salad the Missus made. The last one is rice pudding dessert. Everything was top-notch. The unphotographed artichoke, black bean and avocado dip was also stupendous.
When we arrived, Steely Dan was playing on the stereo. When we left, it was a Mannheim Steamroller Christmas album. Things clearly devolved. Weird times, man. Weird times. But totally enjoyable. Can’t wait for the next one.
